I love to teach Reiki!! I have been teaching Reiki for over 30 years. Anyone can learn. I have taught Doctors, Nurses, Lawyers, Hospice Volunteers, Social Workers, Yoga Instructors, Massage Therapists, Mothers, Fathers, Sons and Daughters, etc. It is an honor and pleasure watching many of them become Masters and Teachers themselves.
I have monthly group Reiki Share Rejuvenation sessions every 3rd Saturday at Manifest Station Arts and Wellness Center, 12 Merrow Rd, Storrs, CT. All Reiki practitioners are welcome!!

What is Reiki and how does it work?
Reiki is an ancient Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It is based on the idea that we have a ‘life force energy’ flowing around and through us. When one’s energy is low or blocked, one is more likely to experience stress, illness or disease. When one’s energy is high or balanced, one is more likely to feel relaxed and the body’s own innate healing abilities are awakened and utilized for healing.
Reiki works on three levels – physical, mental and emotional – or mind, body, and spirit.
Reiki heals by flowing through the affected parts of the energy field and charging them with positive energy. It raises the vibratory level of the energy field in and around the physical body where negative thoughts and feelings are attached. This causes the negative energy to break apart and fall away. In so doing, Reiki clears, straightens, and heals the energy pathways, thus allowing the life force to flow in a healthy and natural way.
What does it feel like?
Although Reiki is ‘hands on’ healing, unlike massage, it is administered through a gentle touch or a ‘laying on’ of hands. While the client is seated or lying down and fully clothed, the practitioner’s hands are placed along energy pathways (similiar to those used by acupuncturists), and the energy is transferred to the client. The client may feel warmth, coolness, gentle tingling, or just deep relaxation. There are standard hand positions for Reiki, but many times a practitioner will follow their intuition, based upon a client’s needs. Reiki can also be administered above the body without touch if a client prefers that. Reiki can also be sent from a distance.
A treatment feels like a wonderful flowing radiance that flows through you and surrounds you. There are feelings of relaxation, peace, security, optimism, and well being.
Every Reiki treatment is unique and personal. The healing is based on where a client’s mental, emotional, and physical needs are at that very point in time. A treatment generally takes about an hour, but benefits can also be received in as little as five minutes.
Who can benefit from Reiki?
Everyone and everything! This includes people, animals, and plants…there are no limits or boundaries.
What does Reiki relieve or help with?
Reiki is both powerful and gentle. In additions to deep relaxation, it has aided in healing virtually every known illness and injury including serious problems like: multiple sclerosis, unwanted habits/addictions, skin problems, heart disease, cancer, headaches, cuts/bruises, broken bones, colds/flu, sore throat, fatigue, impotence, burns/sunburn, insomnia, poor memory, and lack of confidence, etc…
It is useful during illness, after injuries, pre-op and post-op, as well as for general health promotion. Once the technique is learned, it is a wonderful tool to improve one’s own health and quality of life, as well as one’s family and friends.
Is Reiki a Religion?
No, Reiki is not a religion. Reiki is spiritual in nature, but it has no dogma. People from all religions can learn and experience the benefits of Reiki.
What do you look for in a practitioner?
Most importantly, a Reiki practitioner will always make very clear that a Reiki session is not a substitute for medical or psychological diagnosis and treatment. They will not interfere with the treatment of a licensed medical professional.
A Reiki practitioner will not diagnose conditions, prescribe or perform medical treatment, nor prescribe substances.
A Reiki practitioner will encourage you to work even more closely with your medical professionals since healing time is usually quicker and medications may need to modified or cut.
A Reiki practitioner is always interested in the client’s highest good and comfort level. A practitioner is always respectful of the client.
There are many practitioner levels. Reiki flows from practitioners at any of the various levels they have received attunements for. A practitioner must have completed the Usui Reiki training before studying Karuna Reiki.

The higher levels of Reiki give the practitioner more symbols to work with and increases the strength of the Reiki energy. Generally, a practitioner charges commensurate with their attunement levels achieved. A practitioner doesn’t usually charge until they have achieved Usui Level II.
I am now a Holy Fire®️ III Usui and Karuna Reiki®️ Master, and have updated all the Reiki Class Descriptions below to reflect this.
Reiki Classes
Usui/Holy Fire®️ III Reiki I and II:
In this two day intensive class, you will learn Reiki I, which awakens your healing touch. It teaches you the gentle hands-on healing which replenishes body energies, assists relaxation, promotes mental clarity and helps define your focus. Reiki I enables you to work with adults, children, infants, animals and most especially yourself. Day 1 provides an understanding of what Reiki is through lecture, meditations, the first degree placement (formerly known as attunement), hand positions, and practice on how to give yourself a Reiki treatment. You will also receive a special transition symbol useful for the living and those preparing to move on. We have expanded our program to include comprehension of the chakras (your energy systems), as well as ‘grounding’, ‘breath-work’, and the importance of them. On Day 2, you will learn Reiki II which accelerates your healing potential. You learn three new Reiki symbols that increase your healing energies, allow you to heal mental and emotional issues, and teaches you how to send distant healing. Distant healing includes healing for the past and/or future events. We have also added the topic of being a healthy empath (or those that are sensitive/pick up on other’s ‘stuff’), and the need for clear energetic boundaries. Day 2 is a combination of lecture, meditation, discussion and practice. Practice includes giving and receiving Reiki using the newly learned symbols and knowledge. Day 2 also includes methods to empower goals and rid oneself of unwanted habits or behaviors. This weekend will truly be a personal healing journey and experience. It also includes Sound Healing Meditations with Edie’s Crystal Alchemy Bowls Tuition: $400 plus book (around $22-25)
Holy Fire®️ III Master Training – Reiki III:
In this three day intensive class, you will receive the Usui Master Symbol Placement which increases the strength of your Reiki energy. We have expanded our program to include deeper comprehension of the chakras, as well as more ‘grounding’, ‘breath-work’, and the importance of them. You will also learn advanced techniques for using Reiki to solve problems and achieve goals. We have added the topic of being a healthy empath (or those that are sensitive/pick-up on other’s ‘stuff’), and the need for clear energetic boundaries. You will learn about the use of crystals and stones with Reiki, and how to create a Reiki grid that will continue to send Reiki to yourself and others after it is charged. Powerful meditations are part of this weekend. You will receive the Holy Fire symbol, and have lots of practice. We will review the values and spiritual orientation of a true Reiki Master. This is an excellent class for those interested in self-healing and spiritual development. It is an incredible weekend of personal clearing, healing and exponential growth held in the most beautiful and perfect class location. It also includes Sound Healing Meditations with Edie’s Crystal Alchemy Bowls. Prerequisite: It must be at least 6 months since your Level II training and you have spoken to Edie and Roberta for class prep prior to class. A certificate is included. Tuition: $1000 plus book (around $22-25)
Reiki Masters Training ~ Holy Fire®️ III Upgrade and Evolvement: No class scheduled
There has been quite a bit of change in the Reiki Masters’ Class. In this three day intensive and powerful class, Reiki Masters who have not had Holy Fire training will receive the Holy Fire symbol, instructions on how to do all Reiki placements and ignitions (formerly called attunements) including teaching guidelines, and lots of practice. This is an excellent class for those current Reiki Masters interested in self-healing and spiritual development. There will be lots of personal clearing and healing that will happen! You will also get updates on the Reiki Grid. While the content of the class enables anyone to pass on the ability to do Reiki and to teach if one chooses, many take the class for their own personal healing use or to use with family, friends and within their own practice. Tuition: $500 plus book
Karuna Reiki®️ Training:
This most beautiful class is an advanced three day intensive class and is taught only to Reiki Masters. Karuna is a Sanskrit word that means compassionate action. This healing system was developed by William Lee Rand. It is the next step after Usui Master training. It contains two levels, eight practioner symbols and one master symbol. Each symbol has a specific purpose and effect. Chanting and toning with Karuna symbols is also taught. Upon completing the training, you will be able to practice and utilize all the Karuna Reiki®️ symbols. A certificate is included. Tuition: $1000 plus book (around $22-25)
